Earlier this week, the Divergent makeup collection that we’ve been hearing whispers about finally became available at Sephora.com. This cosmetic line is, of course, part of the merchandise for the upcoming blockbuster film Divergent, starring Shailene Woodley and Theo James.
I, being the makeup addict that I am, could not sit idly by while something that represents TWO of my favorite worlds — Divergent AND makeup — was not a part of my collection. So I ran to a computer and purchased the $60 kit, immediately.
So, I now have the collection in my midst and I wanted to swatch and review the products for you!
The kit comes with the following:
- 3 eyeshadow palettes, containing 5 eyeshadows each
- 1 cheek palette, containing two blushes, a highlight and a bronzer
- 4 lipglosses
- 1 dual-ended face & eye brush
I am going to review everything at the end of this post because I have TONS of photos to get through, so let’s get to the swatches!
This is the dual-ended brush that comes with the kit. One end is a face brush and the other end is an eye brush.
The names are underneath each photo.
The names of the palettes are underneath the photos.
From left to right, the shades are: Transform, Bold Espresso, Intrepid Moss, Golden Honesty, Altruistic Almond.
Names from left to right: Diverge, Dauntless Ink, Abnegation Stone, Erudite Sapphire, Serene Vanilla.
Names from left to right: Choose, Burnt Mahogany, Radiant Initiation, Peaceful Shimmer, Humble Sheen.
Names from left to right: Obscure Coral, Misty Rose, Gleaming Pearl, Intelligent Bronze.
The kit also comes with a few tutorial cards that help you in creating day looks and night looks.
This kit is fantastic! And so worth the money ($60). The eyeshadows are very finely milled and quite smooth. Even, the four glitter shades on the left side of each palette are smooth and not crumbly (like they appear to be). You can even use those four shadow wet — for a more intense look.
This palette gives you shadows with various finishes — matte, shimmer, glitter, and pearl. So you have a variety. While some of the palettes appear to be on the more neutral side, you can definitely deepen a look with the darker shades from each palette.
The blushes and highlight are very pigmented, very smooth and fine. Even the bronzer, which I didn’t expect to show up on my skin, looked wonderful with my skin tone (but as a highlight or an eyeshadow).
The lipglosses are very nice as well. Very easy to apply and not sticky at all. The only thing that concerns me is the lighter colors being so light that they sink into the wrinkles of your lips (if you have them — I do). The glosses are all quite sheer and will complement any of the palettes.
The brush is very soft and doesn’t scratch against the skin. I originally thought it would be difficult to use a dual ended brush like this, because it looks so disproportioned. But holding it in my hand and playing with it — it doesn’t seem like it would be too awkward. Which is good to know!
The packaging is very high quality and each product is travel friendly. The palettes seal magnetically, with a fairly decent strengthened magnet.
A fun sidenote: The glitter shades detach from their palettes.
Overall, this kit is definitely worth the money. No doubt about it. The packaging alone is worth the price. The detail and creativity that this kit was design with — I am very happy with this product.
Currently the kit is available for Sephora VIB Rouge & VIB Insider members. Based on trend, it looks like Sephora is letting their members have access first and they it should be released to the general public.
Unfortunately, I do not have a timeline for that. My advice is to keep your eyes peeled, by going to this link and checking. Sign-up for the product notifications, if you can.
Remember, this product is LIMITED EDITION, which means when Sephora runs out — that’s it! No more.
