Yesterday was the final leg of the promotional mall tour for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. The cast and Cassandra Clare visited 5 states, 5 different malls, and 5 groups of Shadowhunters (name for the TMI fans) for an opportunity to meet and greet, as well as engage in an Q&A. It was an amazing experience. I went to one of the stops and I wrote about it here.
So, of course, now that the mall tour is over; I want to talk about my favorite thing in the world (besides men), and that’s fashion. Specifically the fashion of my Queen, Lily Collins. The girl has been hitting it our of the park lately with her outfits, so it’s only right that I bring all of her mall tour looks together and decide which are my favorite and least favorite.
I can’t really remember everything that she wore, so this will be a fun experience! I’ll be discovering her fashion all over again. She’s never really let me down. Speaking of that, have you SEEN her Seventeen magazine cover?! Flawless. Simply flawless.
Onto the first stop!
1. Minneapolis, MN – Mall of America – July 28th
This is the stop that I went to. Where my life was forever changed by one Jamie Campbell Bower. But I’ll be talking about him in another post. This is about Lily Collins. She went classic rocker chic with the jacket and stilettos. I love this look. I’m a shoe whore, so that’s my obsession with this outfit.
2. Chicago, IL – Chicago Ridge Mall - July 30th
Similar in color, but very different from the MN mall tour stop, Lily gets a little more adventurous in her fashion, with the exposed midriff. While I like the look, it’s not my favorite. But I do really like it. Her makeup was faboosh (Kevin Zegers has me saying that now), as per usual.
3. Miami, FL – Dolphin Mall – July 31st
The was the first of the mall tour stops that was held outdoors. And well, it’s Miami, so it’s appropriate. I’m sure it was VERY hot and humid out there.
Lily looks gorgeous here with the loose-fitting floral print dress. Nice pop of color in comparison to the previous two stops. And the shoes are to die for. I love the lined pattern.
When it comes to stilettos, despite being 5’8″, I am ALL about heel height. Lily’s shoes look to be about 5-6 inches. Perfect.
4. Philadelphia, PA – Franklin Mills Mall – August 2nd
Not even going to hide my extreme love for this one. This is by far my favorite look of the tour. Lily looks AMAZING. Makeup and hair is so just… beyond words. It looks very old Hollywood. Such a good look for her. The sheer black and red top and shorts are just simply exquisite. Very modern look.
And do NOT get me started on those “fuck me” boots. I’m sorry, but you KNOW you were thinking it. I must OWN those (or at least a cheaper knock off version).
Thigh high books can either look very trashy or very good. And Lily makes them look VERY good. I love it.
My favorite look. Hands down.
5. Los Angeles, CA – Americana Mall – August 13th
This is the ONLY stop that had Robert Sheehan as well as Lily, Kevin, Jamie and Cassie.
This tour stop felt more, and appropriately so, beachy. Very “beachy, by the water”. It WAS in Los Angeles, my hometown, so I totally get that. Robert looked REALLY comfortable.
When I first saw Lily’s outfit, I immediately disliked it because I couldn’t tell if she was wearing a towel around her waist or if it was a skirt. Then I couldn’t figure out what her top was either. The shoes, though? I love those puppies. She never lets me down with footwear.
But as I looked at the pictures more, I realized.. this works. I do like this look. Not my favorite, by any means. But I do like it.
And that’s the power of Lily Collins. I ALWAYS end up liking everything she wears, because she wears it well.
Overall, the ENTIRE mall tour was a fantastic fashion experience for me. Loved following Lily on her journey. I am glad I even got to physically go to one of the stops.
I really liked all of the looks, but I’d have to say:
FAVORITE LOOK: Philadelphia
LEAST FAVORITE LOOK: Chicago (I thought it would be Los Angeles, but nope, it’s Chicago)
Once again, that’s not to say I didn’t like Chicago or Los Angeles, they’re just not my favorite looks out of the five options.
What do you think? Which of Lily’s looks were your favorite and least favorite?
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones hits theaters on August 21st. Go see it!
Until next time. Stay lovely!
