When a mission goes sideways and leaves seasoned spy Arabella Nox with valuable information and a terrorist on her heels, she seeks out the one person on earth she hopes won’t betray her: the husband she hasn’t spoken to in years.
Felix Ibarra thought he’d put his past behind him, so he’s shocked when Arabella shows up naked in his bed, warning him of an imminent threat. Then, to make things worse, she gets a job with his firm, Wyn Security, behind his back. It’s clear there’s more to her story, but trust doesn’t come easily to either of them.
Can Felix and Arabella work together to banish a mutual enemy, or will the deep emotions that tore them apart the first time be their undoing once again?
This sexy cat-and-mouse game between former lovers will keep you on your toes all the way to the surprising ending.
Sensuality Level: Sensual
**This book was sent to me in exchange for my honest and unbiased review**
Really enjoyed this one. This is the first book that I’ve read by this author and I am more intrigued than ever to read more! While this was definitely an action packed book, I felt such a connection, emotionally, to the two main characters, Arabella and Felix.
This story follows both Arabella and Felix as they attempt a mission that will help Arabella rid herself of the bullseye that is on her head. Of course, there is much more to it than that, but for fear of ruining what I find to be a really great plot, I will leave it at that.
There is a lot of suspenseful and thrilling goodness throughout this story and the progression of it all was pretty dang great. Our two main characters were very deep in character development, in my opinion. And not in the most typical way. A lot of the happenings between the two was very surface level, but there were really great moments of depth that made me smile and aided in the progression of their character growth.
There were a few side characters that I honestly didn’t take too much time to get to know, and that mainly because I didn’t feel that they had their own stories to tell. It felt to me that the extra characters were placed there to help with the story’s progression, not necessarily for the benefit of Arabella or Felix. Which is totally fine. It just made it easier for me to focus on the characters that mattered.
The romance between our leads was very steamy and very well told. I got a lot of feels whenever these two were together. And not even in a sensual way. The reader gets some great insight into how well Arabella and Felix know one another, but you also get a small glimpse into their history together. And I really appreciated that as a reader. Especially considering how Volney introduced them into the story. I find that there would have been a lot of questions, had we not gotten a small glimpse into the past. (I still have questions, but none that deterred me from enjoying the book).
Overall, I’d say that this was successful read for me. I really found myself enjoying the story, the characters, and the feels that I got from all of it combined. Well told story, well developed characters. Would love to read more from this author!
